Learning Experience Designer
I’m a seasoned instructional designer who delights in making complex things clear and boring things engaging. Clear and engaging learning helps equip and motivate learners to tackle the challenges they face.
I love helping my team excel. When we build an atmosphere of trust and respect for each other and for the craft, teams can incubate exceptional creativity and bar-raising learner experiences. Then we can lean into each other’s feedback, into outcome data, and into innovation. As John Maxwell put it, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”
Work Examples
Performance interventions come in all shapes and sizes. The art of learning experience design involves working with clients to accurately identify the root cause of a performance issue and delivering the solution that’s right for their audience and situation. Here are a few examples of solutions I’ve designed, developed, and implemented.
eLearning course - Articulate Storyline
Storyline’s powerful coding capabilities helped organize the in-depth content of this cultural competence eLearning course so that learners could navigate autonomously. The customized learning checks after each topic visually engaged learners while reinforcing key takeaways for
on-the-job performance.

Interactive explainer video - Articulate Storyline
Inspired by comic books, film noire, and the self-mocking, hard-boiled narration of Raymond Chandler novels, this project combined minimalist original graphics and a fun story line to engage learners while introducing them to
about-to-launch tools.
“This is one of the best pieces of learning content I’ve seen. The storytelling, eye-catching graphics, and memorable audio really drive home the key points.”

Videos and documentation for intranet repository
This project empowered an HR team to move information previously delivered in yearly live presentations to an
on-demand format. It used clean, calming graphics to unify the videos and make the content feel simpler. Storing the videos and easily searchable reference charts in an intranet-based reference library for people leaders made it easy for leaders to quickly find needed information.

Storyboard (vILT project)
Collaborating and getting client signoff at iterative stages like learning objectives, outlined content, and a storyboard can keep a client and team in synch on project direction and safeguard a timely, on-budget launch. Here’s an excerpt from a storyboard for a highly interactive vILT (virtual instructor-led training) course, with suggested verbiage and timings for the facilitator.

Multi-modal programs
"I’ve taught soft skills-related curriculum for years and what you are up to with this program is some of the best I’ve ever seen." - Email response to call center training
"Rich content and discussion topics…This was a home run!" - Comment on cohort program for new leaders
Leader comments like these noted the impact of programs that combined low touch media with high-touch elements like coach support, cohort interactions,
and live simulations.
